The creation of the skeletal work for “Cattin’ Around,” a large whimsical version of an alley cat located in Missoula, Montana, led to a new interest in creating welded steel sculpture, and Mike has created many strictly sculptural pieces in this media, as well as some that serve a dual purpose such as trellis works, planters, fire pits, and fountains. One of his latest creations utilized welded steel, stonework, and a bronze casting of an egret, to form an indoor waterfall.
